Everyone has high expectations from exhibiting at trade shows.   But mistakes made when planning your stand can seriously affect your success.

Learning from experience is an expensive and time-consuming way to learn how to properly organise your show.  Instead, Sales 101 have put together the following essential checklist when planning your trade show exhibit.

The Trade Show Checklist is a 25 page document and details 30 critical points you need to plan for.  For each point you will find a suggestion as to what you should do in order to make the show successful. The checklist explains pitfalls for the unwary together with preventative actions that you could take.

Example: Point 3 from the Trade Show checklist:

Action:

Name your booth What You Need to Do:

Shell schemes usually include the name that will go over the stand as part of the package. This identifies the location of your stand and the name of your company. You should submit this quickly and make sure it is correct.

What can go wrong:

This is one of the first things potential clients see as they pass your site.  If it is misspelt or incorrect it doesn’t create a great first impression, and could cost you extra to change.

Beware of just using your company name, especially if it is an acronym.  You and your existing customers might know who you are and what you do, but new customers probably won’t.  If you can, use the stand name to describe what you are offering on the stand.

How to overcome it:

Double check all spelling and ensure that you include a brief description of what your company does.  This will help attract passers by to your stand.

The Trade Show Checklist is supplied in Adobe PDF format, and a free Adobe Acrobat Reader can be found here.

Please be aware that the checklist is designed as a reference tool and is not claimed to be exhaustive or complete. Sales 101 wishes you every success with the show but cannot take any responsibility for actions taken as a result of suggestions in this guide.
